Saturday, September 25, 2026 - Hollywood stars Susan Sarandon and Hannah Einbinder were among dozens of protesters arrested in New York during a demonstration outside the United Nations on September 24.
The protest took place as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu prepared to address the U.N. General Assembly. Police moved in after protesters blocked a Manhattan intersection and remained despite warnings to leave.
Reports said around 100 people were taken into custody during the demonstration, which was organized by Jewish Voice for Peace. Sarandon and Einbinder were among the high-profile figures detained, alongside other activists and political figures. Those taken into custody at the protest were later released.
The arrests quickly drew attention because of the actresses' public involvement in the protest and the wider debate surrounding Netanyahu's U.N. appearance and the war in Gaza.
