Thursday, August 27, 2026 - Yayoi Kusama, the Japanese artist whose polka dots, pumpkins and immersive Infinity Mirror Rooms made her one of the world’s most recognizable contemporary artists, has died aged 97.
Kusama died on August 14 at a hospital in Tokyo, with her death announced publicly on August 27 by her studio. No cause of death was disclosed.
