DAVID BYRNE reveals new concert film, ‘Who Is The Sky?’

Thursday, August 27, 2026 - David Byrne is bringing his latest live spectacle to the big screen with Who Is The Sky?, a new concert film directed by The Brutalist filmmaker Brady Corbet.

The film was shot over multiple nights at Baltimore’s Hippodrome Theatre, Byrne’s hometown venue, during his current world tour, and is now in post-production.

The project is already drawing attention for its ambitious visual approach. Corbet filmed the performances in 70mm, a format Byrne says captures the expansive scale of the production, which features 13 musicians, singers and dancers moving through an elaborate, constantly changing stage setup.

The show combines music, choreography and visual elements while featuring material from Byrne’s 2025 album alongside Talking Heads favorites.

Fans will have to wait for the official release and distribution details, which have not yet been announced. The timing gives the film added momentum as Byrne’s Who Is The Sky? tour heads toward its September 19 finale in New York.

With Corbet behind the camera and the production captured in 70mm, the concert film is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated screen adaptations of Byrne’s latest creative chapter.
