Thursday, August 27, 2026 - Holly Marie Combs has officially announced her retirement from acting, revealing that family and a lack of exciting roles pushed her to walk away from Hollywood.
The 52-year-old Charmed star made the announcement on her House of Halliwell podcast, explaining that raising her three sons became her priority, particularly during the chaos of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Combs also pointed to the shrinking number of compelling opportunities for actresses in their 40s and 50s.
She said many of the projects coming her way failed to give her a reason to return, while acknowledging that ageism in Hollywood has improved compared with the past. She has since built a different life in Washington state, balancing family responsibilities with her podcast and a range of business ventures.
The retirement may not be permanent. Combs admitted that she occasionally misses acting and the sense of escape that comes with performing, but she is not rushing back to the screen.
With her youngest son still in high school, she suggested she could reconsider acting after his graduation. For now, the former Charmed star appears determined to put family first while building a new chapter away from Hollywood’s spotlight.
