Saturday, August 1, 2026 - Barcelona have completed the signing of highly rated Belgian winger Jesse Bisiwu from Club Brugge in a deal worth a reported €8.5 million. The 18-year-old has signed a five-year contract that will keep him at the Spanish champions until June 30, 2031.
Confirming the transfer, Barcelona said: "FC Barcelona
and Club Brugge have reached an agreement for the transfer of Jesse Bisiwu, who
signs up to be a Blaugrana until 30 June 2031." The club added that Bisiwu
will be officially presented in the coming days.
Bisiwu arrives after months of negotiations between
Barcelona and Club Brugge, with the Catalan club viewing him as one of
Belgium's brightest young talents. He joins fellow summer signings Anthony
Gordon and Karim Adeyemi as Barcelona continue strengthening their squad.
Barcelona described the youngster as a winger with "a great future
ahead" thanks to his pace, strength and dribbling ability.
Born on January 22, 2008, Bisiwu has represented Belgium at
youth level and gained widespread attention during the 2025 UEFA European
Under-17 Championship, where he helped Belgium reach the semi-finals and was
named in the tournament's Best XI. He began his youth career at OH Leuven
before joining Club Brugge's academy in 2020.
Over the past two seasons, Bisiwu made 14 appearances in the
UEFA Youth League, scoring three goals. He also gained senior experience with
Club NXT, Club Brugge's reserve team, making his Belgian Second Division debut
in 2023 at just 15 years old. He went on to make 36 appearances for the reserve
side before securing his move to Barcelona, although he never featured for Club
Brugge's first team.
Bisiwu is expected to begin his Barcelona career with Barça
Atlètic, the club's reserve team, while training regularly with the first-team
squad throughout the season as part of his development. With the transfer,
Bisiwu becomes the latest Belgian player to represent Barcelona, following
Thomas Vermaelen and Fernand Goyvaerts.
