Wednesday, June 1, 2026- Award-winning actors Kenneth Branagh and Ewan McGregor are set to headline the 2026 Edinburgh International Film Festival, leading a star-studded lineup of filmmakers and industry figures.
Branagh will receive the inaugural Outstanding Contribution to Cinema Award, while both stars will take part in special "In Conversation" events, giving audiences an opportunity to hear firsthand about their careers and the future of filmmaking.
The festival, scheduled to run from 13 to 19 August, will showcase 38 feature films, including 21 world premieres, with ten competing for the prestigious Sean Connery Prize for Feature Filmmaking Excellence. Organizers say this year's programme aims to celebrate independent cinema while providing a platform for emerging filmmakers from around the world.
