At least ten killed in large-scale Russian missile and drone strikes on Kyiv

Wednesday, June 1, 2026- A massive wave of Russian missiles and drones struck Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, overnight, leaving at least ten people dead and dozens more injured in one of the latest large-scale attacks on the city.

Residential buildings, civilian infrastructure, and several neighborhoods suffered heavy damage as emergency crews rushed to rescue people trapped beneath the rubble. Ukrainian authorities have urged residents to remain alert as rescue operations continue and the threat of additional strikes remains high.

The attack comes amid escalating tensions in the ongoing war, with Ukrainian officials describing the assault as one of the most intense in recent weeks.

Air defense systems intercepted many incoming missiles and drones, but several still reached their targets, causing widespread destruction and disrupting daily life across the capital. Officials continue to assess the full extent of the damage while hospitals treat scores of injured civilians.

The latest bombardment has renewed urgent calls from Ukraine for additional air defense support from its international partners as fears grow over further large-scale attacks.

With search-and-rescue efforts still underway and casualty figures expected to change, the situation in Kyiv remains highly volatile. Authorities are encouraging residents to follow official safety advisories as the conflict continues to threaten civilian lives.
