Thursday, June 18, 2026- Prince William has stepped in to support a campaign aimed at saving a struggling village pub, donating £1,000 to help secure its future.

The contribution was made to a community-led effort to purchase and restore the Somerset Arms in Semington, Wiltshire, a pub that has remained closed since 2023.

The donation comes at a critical time as local residents work to raise funds and prevent the loss of one of the area's most important social spaces.

The move highlights a growing concern across the United Kingdom, where hundreds of pubs continue to face closure due to rising operating costs and economic pressures.

Prince William has recently emphasized the importance of pubs as community hubs that bring people together, support local economies, and help combat social isolation. His backing has added momentum to the fundraising campaign and attracted wider public attention.

For communities facing similar challenges, the story is a reminder that local action can drive meaningful change. As businesses across the country search for ways to survive and grow, community ownership models are gaining traction as practical solutions.

The success of the Somerset Arms campaign could become a powerful example of how local support, combined with influential backing, can help preserve valuable community assets for future generations.
