Wednesday, June 17, 2026 - Rapper and singer Nicki Minaj has admitted that there are lyrics from her earlier music career that she wishes she could change, saying she now regrets promoting messages centred on wealth, status and material success.
Speaking during an appearance on The Bryce Crawford Podcast,
the award-winning artiste reflected on the impact of her music and the
responsibility that comes with having a large platform. Minaj said that,
looking back, some of the culture she helped popularise in the music industry
was not leading people towards faith or spiritual values. "A lot of the
music culture wasn't leading people toward God."
Instead, she said many songs focused heavily on money, fame
and material possessions, adding that she now recognises the influence her
words had on listeners.
The rapper explained that when she was younger, she did not
fully understand the extent of her impact on fans and acknowledged that there
are certain lyrics she would no longer include in her music. "There are
definitely lyrics I would've left on the cutting room floor."
Minaj also addressed long-running conspiracy theories
surrounding the entertainment industry, including claims about the existence of
the Illuminati. While she stopped short of confirming whether such a group
exists, she suggested that she has faced opposition from powerful individuals
throughout her career. "I've definitely had powerful people working
against me."
However, the rapper indicated that her experiences were more
reflective of industry politics and personal conflicts than the actions of a
secret organisation operating behind the scenes. Despite the challenges she
says she has faced, Minaj did not provide specific examples or name any
individuals she believes worked against her.
The comments mark one of the most candid reflections from
the rapper on her career, as she acknowledged regrets about aspects of her past
music while discussing faith, influence and the pressures of the entertainment
industry.
