ERIKSEN says he is back home and 'doing well' after on-field collapse during Denmark game

Tuesday, June 9, 2026- Christian Eriksen has reassured fans that he is recovering at home and “doing well” after collapsing during Denmark’s friendly match against Ukraine in Odense.

The incident, which occurred in the 65th minute, immediately sparked concern across the football world as medical staff rushed to his aid. Eriksen was later taken for medical checks after briefly receiving treatment on the pitch, with officials confirming he was conscious and stable as he left the field.

The Danish midfielder addressed supporters soon after, confirming that he is now with his family and in a stable condition. He explained that the episode was linked to his implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD), a device fitted after his 2021 cardiac arrest at Euro 2020.

Medical teams have since confirmed the device functioned as intended, helping to prevent a more serious outcome and allowing him to recover safely.

The latest update has brought relief, but also renewed focus on Eriksen’s long-term health and playing future.

While he has emphasized that this incident was different from his previous collapse, it has reignited conversations around player safety and cardiac screening in elite sport. For now, Eriksen’s priority remains recovery, with supporters and the football community closely watching his progress as he continues his rehabilitation.
