Wednesday, June 10, 2026- A drone strike targeting a police convoy in northwest Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Wednesday injured seven policemen, officials said, highlighting a continuing uptick in militant violence against security forces in the region.
The attack occurred in the Karak district when a quadcopter drone loaded with explosives struck a moving police unit, injuring the officers, who were promptly taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Authorities said the assault happened while the police convoy was conducting an operation against militants in the Dargah Shahidan area.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the drone strike, but security sources pointed to the pattern of violence linked to outlawed extremist groups operating along Pakistan’s rugged northwest frontier, especially after the end of the TTP’s ceasefire deal.
In response, local forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to track down those responsible.
The attack underscores serious challenges for Pakistani security operations in border regions where militants have increasingly used drones and other remote-controlled devices to ambush convoys and outposts, complicating efforts to restore stability.
