2 students in custody after shooting at high school in Philippines kills 3

Monday, June 22, 2026- A tragic school shooting at the San Jose National High School in Tacloban City, Philippines has left three students dead and several others injured, triggering national shock and urgent calls for tighter school security.

Authorities confirmed that two students, aged 14 and 15, were taken into custody shortly after the attack. The incident unfolded during school hours, turning classrooms into scenes of panic as gunfire erupted inside the campus.

Police reports indicate the suspects were armed with handguns and managed to bring them into the school, which reportedly had limited security coverage at the time. The attack resulted in at least three fatalities and multiple injuries, all of them students.

Investigators are now examining how the weapons were obtained and how the breach in campus security occurred, as officials begin piecing together the sequence of events.

Early accounts suggest the suspects may have been motivated by grievances linked to bullying, though authorities stress that the investigation is still ongoing.

Government officials, including education and law enforcement agencies, have vowed to strengthen safety measures in schools nationwide. As the community mourns, the focus has shifted sharply toward preventing another tragedy and addressing rising concerns over youth violence in educational settings.
